The lacrosse team was able to turn things around late last week when they traveled to Bowdoin College to play their underclassmen and walked away with an 11-7 victory. The game started off well with Bowdoin up 2-1 at the end of the first quarter. After some back and forth play the score was tied at 4-4 at the half. The Wolverines were able to take a 7-5 lead at the end of the third quarter and Bowdoin could not fight back. Bridgton let loose on Bowdoin’s defense giving their own a break.
Ian Farley (Camillus, NY) led the scoring for BA with six goals in the game. Alec Westerhoff (Le Grange Park, IL) and Brooks Billingham (Martha's Vineyard, MA) both tallied a goal and three assists while Matt Stango (Jupiter, FL) added two goals. Sean Williamson (Falmouth, MA) tallied a goal and Jeff Pearce (Stonington, CT), Spencer Matches (Sammamish, WA), and Chris Barney (Cheshire, CT) all added assists. Colin Nesdale (Cheshire, CT) had 17 saves in net and Bridgton won 15 of the 20 faceoffs in the game.
Bowdoin was a very talented team that has won every matchup with Bridgton for the last six years. This win was huge for the Wolverines and Coach Bamann was beyond excited after the game. “Our guys played very hard this weekend and beat and very good Bowdoin team. I am proud of the win and how they rebounded back from Wednesday’s loss to Exeter. We made great strides and I look forward to pushing through until the end of the year,” commented Bamann.
On Wednesday the team will travel to Avon Old Farms in Connecticut to play at 4:00 PM.
