The Wolverines made the trip to Phillips Exeter in the pouring rain to take the field for what promised to be a good match up. While the rain let up for the game, Phillips Exeter didn't. They came out strong and took a 6-0 lead the end of the first quarter. Jeremy Buckley (Norwell, MA) came out strong for BA in the second quarter scoring BA's first goal of the match up. Alec Westerhoff (Le Grange Park, IL) also scored for BA cutting Exeter's lead to 7-2 going into the half.
Phillips Exeter came out strong again after the half scoring 5 goals in a row. The Wolverines found some drive in the last few minutes scoring three unanswered goals at the end courtesy of Matt Stango (Jupiter, FL), Eddie Suh (Colchester, CT), and Brooks Billingham (Martha's Vineyard, MA). However it wasn't enough to come back and win and BA walked away with a tough 12-5 loss.
In the loss Colin Nesdale (Cheshire, CT) played in net made 14 saves. Chris Barney (Cheshire, CT) and Spencer Matches (Sammamish, WA) combined won eight of the 16 face offs in the game.
Coach Bamann was upset with the loss but complementary of the opposing team saying, “I felt like our head just weren’t in it today. We were a different team out there and we just got beat by a great team."
Up next the Wolverines hope to bounce back against Bowdoin College's JV squad on Friday at 1:00 PM.
