Bridgton traveled to Exeter, NH to take on Phillips Exeter Academy, and despite an impressive showing in the second half it was too little, too late, for the Wolverines as they fell 10-7.
BA got off to a slow start and Exeter took advantage as they ran out to a 5-1 lead in the first half. Sloppy play by the Wolverines allowed the Lions to pull away early on. Bridgton closed to within 5-2 at the half.
In the second half Bridgton played much more efficiently but could not close the gap anymore as the final was 10-7. Coach Bamann said, "In the first half we did not take care of the ball, and were playing too much defense. In the second half we were more impressive and executed more effectively."
JP Coombe (Annapolis, MD) lead the scoring attack registering four goals to go along with an assist. Kevin Looney (Manhattan Beach, CA) and Colin Palma (Chappaqua, NY) each collected two assists and one goal. Casey Helms (Sandwich, MA) scored one goal and had an assist, and Steve Knezick (Burlington, NJ) was credited with one helper. Sean Igoe (Oceanside, NY) was credited with nine saves in net.
The Wolverines next take on the Bowdoin Polar Bears on Wednesday in Brunswick, ME at 4:30 PM.

BA Splits at Holderness
Bridgton traveled to Holderness School for a Jamboree in which they took on the hosts as well was Kimball Union Academy. The games consisted of two twenty minute halfs. The Wolverines won their first game against Holderness 14-3, and then fell to KUA 6-4, playing back to back games.
In the first game BA jumped on top 3-0 early and never looked back as the Wolverines were in better shape and able to outlast Holderness. Sean Igoe (Oceanside, NY) played well in net to collect the win.
In the second game, directly following the first, Bridgton saw their reserves play a larger role. Bridgton fell behind early but were able to battle back and cut the lead to just two, but would come no closer. Following the game Coach Bamann said, "Overall for the day we played well, Chad Graham (Hampton Falls, NH) played very well in the second game in his first start of the season. This is a good start and something to build on."

Wolverines Take Down Minutemen
Bridgton Academy lacrosse kicked off its Spring season with a trip to UMass Amherst to take on the Minutemen club team. Being outside for the first time on the season the Wolverines were able to pull out a 7-6 victory.
Bridgton came out firing, jumping out to a 3-0 advantage, however they allowed UMass back into the game by giving up two unanswered goals to close the first quarter up 3-2. The second quarter was a back and forth battle until Bridgton found the back of the net just before the half to take a 4-2 lead.
Following a halftime speech by former Wolverine and current UMass All-American, Diogo Godoi '04 the Black and Gray scored two quick goals to take their largest lead of the game at 6-2, however four straight goals by UMass over the final 10 minutes tied the game at 6-6 with four minutes to go. Colin Palma (Chappaqua, NY) then found the back of the net for the eventual game winner, as the Bridgton defense was able to hold off UMass for the final four minutes.
Will Janney (Richmond, VA) stopped 11 shots in goal, against a much better UMass team from the fall. Palma lead the offense with three goals and one assist. Kenzick Competes In Face Off Tournament
Steve Knezick (Burlington, NJ) recently competed in a Face Off Tournament, hosted by The FaceOff Club, in New Hampshire. Steve competed against other face off specialists during the tournament. Steve was able to reach the final of the tournament by defeating two DIII All-American Honorable Mentions, and a DII 2nd Team All-American selection. In the finals Knezick fell to a player from Western New England College. Ranked as the #1 face off specialist in the 2010 class Knezick will be attending Ohio St. University next fall on a lacrosse scholarship.
The Wolverine Lacrosse team has been in action for the last few weeks, holding morning conditioning practices, as well as evening lifting. The Spring season will open up on March 27th when Bridgton travels to UMass Amherst.
