Lacrosse Loses Close One to Navy Prep

The lacrosse team took the field in the pouring rain to take on Navy Prep for Parents' Weekend. While Navy held the lead for most of the game, Bridgton never gave up. Blake Pendledon (Wayland, MA) started off the Wolverines with two goals in the first quarter. Nick Gorrasi (Sandwich, MA), Lawerence Dee (Charlotte, VT), Dylan Parlee (Essex, MA) (with two), Ryan O'Sullivan (Centerville, VA), and Teddy Wright (Copiague, NY) all tallied goals to cut Navy's lead to 10-8. With 1:52 left in the game, BA called a time out to regroup for the last drive of the game. With 1:11 on the clock, Parlee netted his third goal of the game to make it a one goal difference. Navy had one last break which the Wolverines stopped and took the ball down the field for their last chance. Unfortunately, Navy's goalie was able to stop a blast from BA to win the game 10-9. Although the Wolverines suffered a loss, they worked together as a team and never once gave up.

In total, BA scooped 22 ground balls with Walt Hinnent (Winston Salem, NC), Parlee, and Pendelton leading the way with 3 each. Chris Smith (Montclair, NJ) played the first half in goal and stopped 4 shots and Tyler Abernathy (Winston Salem, NC) finished off the game with six saves in net.

Up next the lacrosse team will travel to Merrimack College to take on Boston University's Club team on Friday October 7th at 7:00 P.M.

Lacrosse Dominates Dean College

The lacrosse team was able to turn their season around this week as they dominated Dean College with a 13-1 victory. The team played a disciplined game and moved the ball. Additionally, Bridgton was able to capitalize on many of Dean’s sloppy plays. Dean was able to slip one goal past Bridgton with four minutes left in the game but was otherwise the stopped by Bridgton’s defense led by Chris Gibaldi (Rocky Point, NY), Chris Nabors (Pittsburgh, PA), Korin Sunday (Hogansburg, NY), Walt Hinnent (Winston Salem, NC), Bryson Weberg (Parksville, BC), Dan Duffy (Wakefield, RI), and Abel Warden (Johnson, VT). Tyler Abernathy (Winston Salem, NC) started off in net for the Wolverines and made six saves, while Chris Smith (Montclair, NJ) tallied 15 saves between the pipes.

On offense, Bridgton peppered Dean’s goaltender with shots, 13 of which made it past. The offensive attack was lead by Jake Johnson (Trabuco Canyon, CA) with three goals, Ryan O’Sullivan (Centerville, VA), Nick Gorasi (Sandwich, MA), and Lawrence Dee (Charlotte, VT) with two, and Teddy Wright (Copiague, NY), Cullen Reinartz (Ada, MI), Duffy, and Chris Dolewa (Saco, ME) with one apiece.

Bridgton also dominated the faceoffs in the game, winning 15 of 17. Tony Marcella (Bridgton, ME) and Christian Houk (Tivoli, NY) each won six while Wright claimed three.

Coach Bamann was thrilled with the performance saying “we had a much better outing than the week before. We played a skilled game and it carried us past Dean.”

Up next the lacrosse team will host Navy Prep on Satuday the 1st at 1:00 P.M. for Parents Weekend. We hope to see lots of friends and family at the game!
